Q: Blackberry?
I have a blackberry, and I was wondering how I am charged to use the Blackberry messenger. Do you need internet? And how do they charge for the pin-to-pin messages? Are they counted like SMS messages?
Thank you.
A: Pin to Pin messages count like instant messages and texts, they are $.15cents per incoming/out messages. Yes you need a data plan to connect ...then the messaging plan..yes they are definilty counted as sms.
ps. i work for customer care
Q: Does a Blackberry 8800 use Microsoft Outlook to incorporate contacts into the phone book?
Can I synch it with MS Outlook to get all my contacts from there into it's phonebook? I know it comes with blackberry software, but before I buy one I would like to find out. Thanks!
A: Yes you can synch the 8800 with Outlook. You will need to install the Desktop Manager software that comes with the BB and use that to synch.
Q: Does Blackberry poll the server every fifteen minutes to update the information for the user?
Some say the Blackberry goes to the server every 15 minutes to check for any data in the email, this process is called 'Polling' and others reveal that the BlackBerry does not poll the server to look for updates. It simply waits for the update to arrive and notifies the user when it does. What is the correct answer?
A: The Blackberry, like every cell type of device polls. But it does not mean what you describe. The polling that takes place is a "keep-alive" type of data packet. The purpose is to let the network know where the phone is located physically on the network at any given time. As a user moves from place to place the cell towers keep a record of those movements so that when you want to make a call or send data of any type you will already be connected and ready go. This is how you get an "always on" connection.
The polling intervals vary by providers but they are generally constant IE every so many seconds or nanoseconds.
If the network receives a piece of data destine for your device, the network sends the data immediately after it arrives. The network does not wait for any length of time beyond the time it takes to forward the message. There can be delays caused by no or poor signal in which case the information is stored until the connection is restored and is then downloaded.
Q: Does the Blackberry Pearl for VERIZON come with wifi access and what are the major benefits of owning it?
I own a regular phone with verizon and I'm curious about how verizon may have edited the Blackberry's usability. I've been annoyed in the past with how Verizon tends to disable certain USEFUL features from their phones so you have to spend more to get the same features you would with a different provider.
Is this the case with any of the features in the Blackberry?
Thanks.
A: I have a blackberry with Verizon as well as my regular work phone through verizon. I have noticed that with my blackberry, I get better signal/coverage with my pearl.
As long as you have the dataplan with Verizon/Blackberry, you have access to EVERY feature of the blackberry. The use of the browser depends on your signal and where you are, but I am overall content with it.
My SO has ATT and often has his calls dropped and cant get to his browser in the same places where I have fast access.
Q: How do you get the blackberry mail icon to show up instead of the yahoo mail icon the blackberry 8800?
I had a blackberry and ported my number over to a different service provider just to find out that the new service provider didn't work in my house. So I switched back to my blackberry and I guess in the process, my email information got deleted. When I went to add my yahoo email again, the icon shows up as a yahoo envelope rather than the original email envelope. Does anyone know how to get the original icon?
A: Actually, that is how the Yahoo! Mail icon shows now. It used to be a regular mail looking envelope but it has changed. So there is nothing wrong with your device. This is how the Yahoo! mail icon shows. Mine is the same way.
Q: How should I store my blackberry cobbler?
I made a blackberry cobbler tonight, but don't plan on eating it until tomorrow evening. Should I store it on the counter, or in the refridgerator?
A: It sounds delicious, I can't believe that you have the will power to wait until tomorrow! I would definitely put it in the refrigerator over night as apposed to leaving it on the counter. I would however, pull it out tomorrow approximately 1/2 hr. before eating, just to let it come to room temperature or warm it slightly in the oven, whatever your preference may be. Have a GREAT Sunday!
Q: Blackberry plant has fungus growing on it, what do i need to do?
I woke up this morning and my blackberry plant had developed a fuzzy fungus overnight, how do i get rid of the fungus before it spreads to my other plants?
A: Go to your local hardware or garden store. Get some fungicide. Mancozeb is a good one. Ask the salesperson what is best for the blackberry plant.
Q: How do I make my blackberry work with my old bluetooth earpiece?
I droped and broke my old blackberry and got the same kind, and need to hook up my old bluetooth earpiece, but I don't have the code. What can I do, or who can i call. I can't find any of my old information!
A: isn't the code just 0000? that's the default passcode of a lot of bluetooth devices.
Q: How can I make my blackberry work internationally?
I am going to Ireland and the England tommorow and want my Blackberry to work so I can keep in touch with my company. How can I make this happen?
A: With so little time, you're going to have to call your phone company and arrange it with them. You might have to add on an extra plan that costs a few extra bucks a month, and even then you'll pay a lot per minute for using it overseas.
Q: Can anyone provide me with a recipe for blackberry stuffing.?
Blackberries are out in abundance here, and I have a desire to stuff a chicken, turkey or goose with a blackberry stuffing. I cant find any recipes on-line though.
A: Although I don't know of any specific recipes for blackberry stuffing, I would suggest that you use a stuffing recipe that calls for cranberries, dried fruit or raisins and substitute blackberries for the other fruit. Obviously cranberries - and other fruit - would give a slightly different taste, but I think it should still taste good (especially if you taste it and adjust the seasoning to your preference).
I found the following recipe on cdkitchen.com and think you might start with this one, substituting the blackberries for the cranberries.

"best blackberry muffins"
2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon milk
2/3 cup sugar
8 Tbsp warm melted butter (1 stick)
1 teaspoon vanilla
11 oz of fresh blackberries, cut in half (often available at Trader Joe's)
(You can use frozen blackberries if fresh are not available.)
----------------------------------------
1. Position rack in center of oven. Preheat oven to 400°F. 2. Grease a standard 12 muffin pan or line with paper muffin cups. (Actually, with the berries you'll have more batter than just for 12 muffins. This batch made 18 muffins.)
2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, sour cream, milk, sugar, butter and vanilla.
4. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and mix together with a few light strokes, just until the dry ingredients are moistened. Add the berries. (If you are using frozen berries, defrost them first, then drain the excess liquid, then coat them lightly in flour.) Do not overmix! Overmixing will cause the muffins to be dense, not fluffy. The batter should not be smooth.
5. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the middle of 1 or 2 of the muffins comes out clean, 17-20 minutes (or longer). Let cool for 2 to 3 minutes before removing from the pan. If not serving hot, let cool on a rack.
6. Serve as soon as possible, preferably within a few hours of baking.

Q: What is the best means of backing up your blackberry contacts?
I want to move my contacts from my blackberry device to my PC as a backup. Can anyone provide me with instructions for moving the contacts from a blackberry to a PC? Also, does anyone know how to merge your contacts into an excel spreadsheet? Thanks.
A: If you are a BlackBerry Enterprise user, you do not need to synchronize with your PC because it occurs wirelessly.
If you use BlackBerry Desktop Manager, you can synchronize your device by following these steps:
1. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable provided.
2. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager application on your PC.
3. If the application does not begin synchronization automatically, click Intellisync.
4. Click Synchronize.
Note: You can synchronize with a number of other applications. For a full list, see your BlackBerry User Guide. To synchronize with other applications refer to step 3 above and then select Configure PIM.
Q: how can i get rid of blackberry bushes in my garden permenantly?
we have an abundance of blackberry bushes in our garden and they are a pain! how do we get rid of them and their roots?
A: Root Out, one of the best on the market, to kill off unwanted tree roots, brambles etc.
We used it on ivy growing up our house, chopped it down to the base nr the soil level, sprinkled it on, covered it with strong plastic to stop rain and wildlife being affected - and left it! Killed it right down to the deep roots (10yrs old).
The good thing is that it becomes beneficial to the soil - thus being a plus for the environment!
If the base of the bushes are large, drill holes into them and put the granules in there - it also speeds up the process - which can take a while depending on the age of the shrubs.
